Microblading and Eyebrows
It all begins and ends with brows!
Microblading
A permanent cosmetic tattooing procedure creating strokes in the skin and depositing pigment using a hand held device made up of a configuration of small needles attached to a handle.
This technique is meant to give as natural a look as possible, closely resembling real hair.
Eyebrow Shading
A tattooing technique done either by hand tool or machine to create a denser shadowed appearance of color for the brows.
Sometimes combined with Microblading strokes this look is helpful for creating a fuller, fluffy look to eyebrows.
Powder Brows
Tattoo machine shading for a more intense filled in brow look closely resembling traditional topical eyebrow powder makeup.
This cosmetic tattooing technique is better for more coverage as well as for those with oily skin and usually has better longevity of the look. Ombré Shading is another powder brow procedure offered at Artistic Beauty Services.

How long does the procedure take?
Usually about 2-3 hours. When I book your initial application appointment I will discuss with you the general requirements for this permanent cosmetic procedure and what you can and should expect. I will also go over pre and post care information and requirements with you. At your actual appointment we will discuss how you want your brows to look. I encourage you to wear your eyebrow makeup you normally wear to your appointment in order to give me an idea of the shape, color, length and width you are used to. Since every person is different and no one has a totally symmetrical face, I will first measure and map out a brow design making any adjustments in order to come to a shape you desire prior to the numbing process. I also have a variety of cosmetic grade pigment colors that I will custom blend to closely match any existing brow hair or the eyebrow pencil/powder you wear. Makeup trends are forever changing and how one chooses to wear it or have it cosmetically tattooed is a matter of personal choice. Each procedure is customized to each client so there is no ‘one size fits all’ eyebrow procedure.
How long is the "down time" or recovery period?
While these photos (taken immediately after each procedure) show minimal swelling and irritation, it is to be expected since this was a cosmetic tattooing, but it subsides pretty quickly. Although everyone has different sensitivities, I want my clients to be as relaxed and at ease as much as possible. I use numbing products to ensure my client’s comfort during each procedure so there is very little pain with the procedure. Most clients leave my studio after their procedure and go about their normal daily routines (grocery shopping, choir practice, going to have their hair cut, back to work, etc.) with minimal if any discomfort, so there really isn’t any “down time”.
Recovery for most brow procedures is usually a 10-14 day healing process. Aftercare instructions and products are provided to each client so you are well informed on what to expect during your recover period. Strict adherence to the aftercare requirements will yield optimum results. Varying from the written instructions can cause complications and a less desirable look. There is a never a guarantee for any permanent cosmetic procedure. Aftercare is not an exact science and is different for everyone’s skin type and also for the particular procedure performed. I can only advise what I have found to work well for the majority of my clients and your results may vary.
How long does the look last?
Currently the products, tools and pigments used in microblading and eyebrow procedures would require color boosts over time. Most microblading clients have a retention of 1-3 years depending upon several factors including the condition of their skin. Over exposure to sunlight, medical conditions and continued aftercare of the area are all factors in retaining the look. People with dry skin tend to retain the pigment longer than those with oily skin, however for more longevity of the look, I would suggest either shading or powder brow technique for those with oily skin. Some clients of these particular techniques experience a longer 3-5 year retention.
How many appointments are needed?
For most clients at least two appointments are needed to complete their look. One touch up appointment is included in the service price of the initial application procedure. It must be completed no sooner than six (6) weeks and no later than twelve (12) weeks after your initial application appointment. Any subsequent appointments or applications after twelve (12) weeks will be considered a ‘color boost’ and will therefore be subject to additional service fees.
